Pismo beach police have arrested a man they said stole approximately $40,000 worth of jewelry from the room of someone staying at a hotel in Shell Beach.

Police said they got reports of the theft Tuesday. After an investigation, they identified Jesse Sanchez, 37 of Arroyo Grande, as a suspect. Officers served a search warrant for him, his vehicle and his home Wednesday.

Sanchez reportedly admitted to the burglary. All of the jewelry was returned. Sanchez was taken into custody and transported to the San Luis Obispo County Jail, where he was booked on suspicion of burglary and drug-related offenses.
