Winds let up Friday morning

After a strong wind event Thursday, winds will calm down Friday morning. A high wind warning remains in portions of Santa Barbara County but will expire at noon Friday.  The strong north winds will decrease and shift to the northeast in the morning and likely be below the advisory level before noon. There’s still potential for wind gusts to pick-up to 65 miles per hour in the foothills, particularly above Montecito, but expect winds to return to a 10-15 mph range by the afternoon.

In San Luis Obispo County along the north coast, there will be breezy conditions throughout the morning and afternoon. From Morro Bay to San Simeon, winds will be within 10-15 mph but gusts could get up to 25 mph by the afternoon.

Daytime highs at the beaches will range from the mid-60s to low 70s, while temperatures will heat up in the coastal and inland valleys and be between the low 70s and upper 70s.

A high surf advisory will remain in place until 5:00 p.m. Friday along the coastlines of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. This means the surf will be 10-12 feet but will start to decrease by the afternoon hours.
