Dry, warm weather is expected to dominate much of California as high-pressure increases in the region.

A wind advisory has been issued for southern Santa Barbara County until 9 a.m. Tuesday. Northwest to north winds will increase to 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph in the late afternoon. In Santa Barbara County, winds shift to the northeast Tuesday morning. The strongest winds will likely be between Gaviota and Goleta. Local gusts to 50 mph are possible in the hills above Gaviota and Montecito.

In San Luis Obispo County, northeasterly winds will develop in the morning, turning northwest in the afternoon with sustained speeds of 20 to 30 mph. Into Wednesday, winds may pick up to 25-40 mph.

Dry conditions are also keeping the marine low clouds to a minimum. Temperatures are reaching the high 70s to low 80s along the beach and coastal valleys while interior spots will warm to the mid 70’s.

Mid-week, the wind pattern will result in a warming trend which could bring temperatures near 90 degrees in some locations.

With warm, dry conditions in place, a fire weather watch is in effect Tuesday through Wednesday in the Ventura County Mountains and Los Padres National Forest.
