Hot temperatures in the interior valleys are expected to continue Monday, with temperatures trending above normal for the last day of this heat wave.
Our heat advisory expires Sunday at 9 p.m. but some inland areas like Paso Robles and Atascadero are expected to remain in the 90’s on Monday.
Along the coast, temperatures will be back down in the high 60’s, low 70’s.
We still have low relative humidity in some of our interior valleys, meaning limited moisture in the air.
This is of concern when it comes to “fire weather” as the heat with low relative humidity and the strong wind gusts we have, can create a dangerous situation if a fire were to break out.
Our winds are so strong that a small craft advisory is remaining in place until Wednesday – and it may even be upgraded to a gale warning – meaning gusts over 30 miles per hour!
We do have an upper level ridge that is going to shift our high pressure out of the area, making for cooler temperatures Tuesday-Thursday before the heat returns.
Wednesday and Thursday are expected to be the coolest days of the week.
We are anticipating a shallow marine layer to linger over the coastal areas for the next few days in the morning and evening hours as well.
Have a great rest of your weekend!
