Firefighters responded to a brush fire in the Santa Ynez Valley on Monday afternoon.
The fire was first reported at about 2:45 p.m. near the end of Mattei Road off Edison Street.
According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, forward progress of the fire was stopped at 3:23 p.m.

Fire officials are asking people to avoid the area while crews are at the scene.
