A brush fire broke out Thursday near the Gaviota Rest Area.
It was first reported at about 5:36 p.m. along the southbound lanes of Highway 101.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fire was reported to be about an acre in size.
The #2 southbound lane of the highway was closed. An evacuation warning was issued for Gaviota State Beach but was lifted a short time later.
