CAL FIRE says forward progress of a vegetation fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon off Highway 46 East has been stopped.
The fire was reported just before 4:30 p.m., east of the Cholame Y intersection, near the county line.
CAL FIRE said it was burning behind a sewer plant.
As of 5 p.m., the fire had burned 10 acres and was 50 percent contained. CAL FIRE said it had the potential to burn 50 acres.
About an hour earlier, CAL FIRE crews extinguished a small fire that broke out in the area of Higos Way and Division St. in Nipomo. It reportedly burned an approximately 10x20 foot spot of brush.
A 20x100 foot spot of grass and brush burned along Highway 1 near Cal Poly at about 4:30 p.m. and was also quickly contained.
