Firefighters are working on a controlled burn outside Santa Margarita.
The 20-acre burn got underway around noon Friday off El Camino Real.
Many people in the area reported seeing smoke from the fire.

On May 1, Atascadero Fire & Emergency Services will close the 2023 burn season according to a press release sent by the city of Atascadero.
