UPDATE (3:45 p.m.) - The Jalama Fire has burned about two acres just outside of Lompoc, fire officials say.
According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the Jalama Fire is burning at a slow rate of spread and forward progress has been stopped.

The Lompoc Fire Department as well as the Los Padres National Forest Service is helping put out the fire.

ORIGINAL STORY (2:58 p.m.) - Firefighters were responding to reports of a vegetation fire that broke out near Highway 1 outside Lompoc Friday afternoon.
It was first reported at about 2 p.m. and was reportedly burning on Jalama Road about two miles in from Highway 1.
Santa Barbara County officials are asking people to avoid the area as crews and equipment were still responding to the incident as of 2:45 p.m.
