UPDATE (5:26 p.m.) - Fire officials say the fire is burning at a slow rate of spread and has charred 8 to 10 acres of vegetation.

ORIGINAL STORY (4:36 p.m.) - Firefighters are responding to a brush fire east of the Cuesta Grade near San Luis Obispo.
The fire was first reported at about 4:20 p.m. off of Reservoir Canyon Rd.
A small smoke plume could be seen from San Luis Obispo.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fire is not affecting the roadway. However, motorists may encounter emergency equipment on Highway 101 as crews respond to the scene.
CAL FIRE SLO, San Luis Obispo City Fire and the Los Padres National Forest Service are all responding to put out the fire.
