Firefighters respond to grass fire in California Valley

UPDATE (3:42 p.m.) - CAL FIRE says the fire burned approximately two acres.

The cause is under investigation.

Firefighters are expected to remain on scene, mopping up hot spots for at least an hour.

(3:38 p.m.) - Firefighters responded to a small grass fire in California Valley on Monday afternoon.

The fire broke out in the area of Artesia Trail and Bend Road at about 2:40 p.m.

The fire was initially reported to be about three acres and burning at a slow rate of spread.

CAL FIRE said one structure was threatened, but the fire was moving in the opposite direction.

By 3:30 p.m., CAL FIRE reported forward progress of the fire was stopped.
