UPDATE: Firefighters contain Mallard Fire that burned 7 acres near Lopez Lake Thursday

UPDATE (9:20 p.m.) - CAL FIRE say the Mallard Fire burned seven acres and was caused by machinery. All resources have been released with the exception of three engines that will remain there overnight.

UPDATE (6:35 p.m.) - CAL FIRE reports that the Mallard Fire, which broke out late Thursday afternoon near Lopez Lake has burned between five and ten acres.

Forward progress of the fire has been stopped and CAL FIRE says firefighters are making good progress.

(5:20 p.m.) - Firefighters responded to a brush fire near Lopez Lake on Thursday afternoon.

It was reported at about 5 p.m. near the Mallard Campground.

CAL FIRE said firefighters arriving at the scene found five acres burning in medium brush with the fire heading uphill.
