UPDATE: Forward progress of See Canyon fire stopped, evacuation warning lifted

UPDATE (4:30 p.m.) - The evacuation warning for areas near the Walnut Fire has been lifted.

CAL FIRE has revised the size of the fire down to 13 acres and reports it is currently 50% contained.

UPDATE (3:39 p.m.) - CAL FIRE SLO reports that forward progress of the fire has been stopped.

UPDATE (2:02 p.m.) - According to CAL FIRE SLO, 25 acres have burned.

The fire prompted an evacuation warning for the area one mile north and 1/2 mile south of the intersection of Black Walnut Road and Happy Trails Road. Residents in that area should be prepared to evacuate.

UPDATE (1:28 p.m.) - See Canyon Road is being closed on both sides as a result of the fire.

(1:02 p.m.) - Firefighters are responding to a brush fire in the See Canyon area near San Luis Obispo.

The fire was reported at about 12:40 p.m. Friday in the area of See Canyon Road and Black Walnut Road.
