The Los Padres National Forest says the Mill Fire on Mill Creek in Big Sur has burned 280 acres.
The fire is at 15 percent containment. There is currently no threat to nearby structures or communities.
The Los Padres National Forest says they plan to increase containment to prevent the fire from reaching the Ventana Wilderness and "from getting into Mill and Kirk Creek drainages and north of Cone Peak."
There are nearly 700 resources assigned to the wildfire, including 35 engines and seven air attacks.
The Mill Fire, located northwest of Ventana Wilderness off of Nacimiento Ferguson Rd, was initially reported around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The fire is expected to be fully contained Monday night.
