It is going to a hot start to the weekend as temperatures soar back into the 90s and low 100s for much of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties.
The advisory will go into effect at 11 a.m. and last until 7 p.m. and will cover much of the area, with the exception of the immediate south coast region in Santa Barbara County. Temperatures will be close to the low 100s for most of the inland valley communities and right around the low to upper 90s for the coastal valleys. The beaches are also warming up Friday as peak temperatures will be fairly close to the mid-80s.
An upper-level ridge over the region and offshore flow is responsible for the warmer conditions and clear skies, but it will cool down by Sunday. A trough of low pressure will swing over the Pacific Northwest by the end of the weekend, resulting in cooler daytime highs and increasing marine layer through the start of next week.
