Good morning, Central Coast!
A familiar friend made its return this morning; our marine layer is back with patchy fog and cloudy skies greeting coastal communities. If you're commuting through those communities, expect some reduced visibility early, but conditions will clear nicely by late morning.
While the coast enjoys that refreshing marine influence, our inland valleys are feeling the heat. A Heat Advisory remains in effect for interior valley areas until 8 PM Thursday. This large high-pressure system stretching all the way to Texas is keeping things toasty away from the immediate coastline.
Peak heating arrives today and Thursday with temperatures climbing back into the triple digits. Thankfully, coastal valleys will be cooler and much more moderate today.
One other thing I am keeping an eye on is the winds. Some sundowner winds are expected this evening with chances for up to 45 mph winds this evening.
Looking ahead, relief is on the horizon! The high-pressure system starts shifting eastward this weekend, bringing 1 to 2 degrees of cooling each day starting Friday. By early next week, we'll return to near-normal temperatures with our trusty marine layer continuing its nightly visits.
The 7-day forecast shows this gradual cooling trend continuing into next week, with morning marine clouds remaining a fixture along our beautiful coastline.
Stay cool out there, especially if you're heading inland today!
