An excessive heat warning will remain in place through Labor Day as high pressure continues to dominate the forecast. The good news is, relief from the heat is on the way.

While fires remain a critical concern during the heatwave, a Red Flag Warning has been issued for Santa Barbara County through Monday night due to hot daytime highs, low humidity levels, and gusty sundowner winds that could range from 25-30 miles per hour.

Other areas, like Avila Beach and Pismo Beach, will experience gusty northwesterly and southwesterly winds up to 25 mph Monday, which could result in the return of some coastal marine layer as early as Tuesday. This could help cool down Central Coast beaches and start a cooling trend that will carry over through the end of the week.

An air quality alert remains in place for the inland valley communities across San Luis Obispo County as smoke from nearby wildfires continues to move over the region. Those with pre-existing health conditions should consider limiting time outside.
