Despite closing its dining room to follow social distancing guidelines amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Old Juan's Cantina in Oceano is offering delivery and to-go orders to customers.

A spokesperson for Old Juan's Cantina says the family-owned Mexican restaurant has created a drive-thru so members of the community can order over the phone or in the drive-thru line and pick up their food at the restaurant's parking lot.

Though Old Juan's Cantina has a limited take-out menu, it has also added some bake-at-home options, like enchiladas and nachos.

The restaurant is also finding ways to provide essential food items -- such as bread, butter and milk -- to community members who may not be able to shop at their local grocery store.

"We've come up with this grocery bag idea, which is really just leveraging our supply chain and offering some household products at our cost for folks that that's helpful to," said Adam Verdin, co-owner of Old Juan's Cantina.

To help boost the community's spirits, the restaurant is also using string lights to spell out "Stay Strong Five Cities" to encourage drivers passing by on Highway 1, said the spokesperson.

"And of course, the margaritas to-go have been extremely popular," said the restaurant's spokesperson.

The restaurant's spokesperson also says all employees are wearing masks and gloves to help limit the spread of COVID-19 among employees and customers.

To order from Old Juan's Cantina, members of the community can call 805-489-5680 or visit the restaurant's website.
