Police investigate body found near Shoreline Park in Santa Barbara

(UPDATE: 4:15 p.m.) - Santa Barbara Police say at around 11 a.m. Thursday they received reports from a dog walker of a body found near Shoreline Park.

Police, fire and harbor patrol responded to the incident. Police say the body was close to a cliff and the tide was so high they had to send search and rescue to retrieve the body.

Police identified the body as a 60-year-old male.

The cause of death is under investigation. As of right now, no foul play is suspected and police are not investigating this as a suspicious death.

Police say they are working to recover the body that was found near the cliffs at around 12 p.m. Thursday.

This is an active investigation, the public is asked to stay clear of the area as crews respond to the scene.
