        Clear skies and dry air set the stage for another very cold night and morning for all of the area. Northern SLO county will again see low to mid-20s, coastal valleys and the Southcoast will see low to mid-30s. Most coastal areas and the Cuyama valley have advisories for the cold overnight as it can damage sensitive plants.  People in the interior where the air will actually be the coldest do not have an advisory, however, should take precautions for pets, pipes, and plants ...

        A large trough in the jet stream will leave cold air in place over the Central Coast most of this week.  Most of the shower activity has ended so the immediate concern is for hard freeze conditions for the coastal valleys tonight and a freeze for the Southcoast as well.  A hard freeze means that temps will dip into below freezing and remain there long enough to do damage to sensitive plants, the upper 20s are forecasted for some coastal valleys tonight.  Tomorrow night ...

        Highs clouds started streaming thru the Central Coast today as the ridge of high pressure is providing offshore surface winds but upper levels winds are still onshore.  The so-called "dirty ridge" is not the type of pattern that produced rain. Now the ridge is pretty flat so a series of cold fronts will slide by us to the north.  Models have struggled with the feature at times suggesting lighter showers were possible for Tuesday but I still think we don't get much...
