Crews rescued a 5-month-old calf on Saturday, Jan. 24, at around 9:30 AM after she was found approximately 50 feet down a steep beach cliff near Harmony Ranch Road in Cambria.
According to the rancher, the calf, who missed branding and was discovered by the ranch dog, may have been stranded for over a week.
USAR teams used a technical rope system to bring both the calf and her rescuer to safety. The calf has since been named “Rock-Sand” in honor of her time on the beach.
