A local non-profit is calling on the community to help send six local surfers to international and national surf competitions.

Still Frothy will host a fundraiser Friday, March 8 from 5:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. at Chris Burkard Studios. It’s all in an effort to raise money for six local surfers who are part of the Still Frothy ambassador team.

Walter Cerny, the president of Still Frothy, says the surfers are from San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties. Cerny says all the money raised will go back to their travel expenses to compete in national and international surfing competitions.

“In our area, surfers have a hard time making it, not necessarily because of their talent but because we’re away from the surf industry so they don’t make as much,” Cerny said. “So our goal is to help those kids attain or aim towards their goals, be it scholarships or what we’re doing with travel funds and contest fees.”

Tickets to the event are $10 and food will be available for purchase. There will be raffle prizes, as well as video presentations by the surfers who are benefiting from the event and Chris Burkard. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here.
