The Housing Authority of the County of Santa Barbara (HASBARCO) hosted the Cypress Court Senior Expo on Thursday, August 13, in support of senior community members on the Central Coast.
The free event, which was hosted at Cypress Court in Lompoc, brought together local organizations to help seniors connect with local service providers.
Organizations such as the American Red Cross, Friendship House, Central Coast Senior Nutrition, and more were at the event, offering assistance in transportation, healthcare, and caregiving.
“Sometimes people are struggling and don't know where to turn, and events like this are why we do it,” said Training and Public Information Coordinator for HASBARCO Bernie Baggarly. “So people show up, you know, they can win some prizes, they can have some tacos, and at the same time enjoy, you know, many of the services that they may not have realized existed.”
During the event, attendees enjoyed free food and refreshments, giveaways, and a raffle for prizes.
In addition to meeting with organizations, the event also provided an opportunity for attendees to learn more about affordable senior housing opportunities in the area.
