UPDATE: Power restored for most customers in Morro Bay

UPDATE (12:30 p.m.) - PG&E has announced the cause of the power outage that impacted more than 3,700 customers in Morro Bay on Monday morning.

Officials say PG&E crews were upgrading a transformer near Morro Bay Boulevard.

To complete the work safely, crews reportedly turned off power for approximately 3,700 customers.

As of 12:30 p.m., PG&E reports that one customer near Pacific Street and Estero Avenue is still without power.

UPDATE (10:34 a.m.) - Power has been restored for most of those affected by a massive outage in the Morro Bay area on Monday morning.

More than 70 customers are still without power, mostly in the area of Morro Bay Boulevard between Piney Way and Kern Avenue.

UPDATE (10:14 a.m.) - Power has been restored for a portion of customers south of Pacific Street in Morro Bay.

More than 2,400 customers remain without power with an estimated restoration time of 3 p.m.

Cuesta College is also affected by the power outage and the campus has been closed until noon.

(9:20 a.m.) - A power outage in Morro Bay Monday morning has left thousands of people in the dark.

According to the PG&E website, more than 3,700 customers are without power.

The outage was first reported around 6 a.m.

PG&E crews are inspecting the unplanned outage and working on repairs.

There is no estimated restoration time.
