A two-vehicle crash caused a traffic backup on northbound Highway 1 just before Morro Bay Boulevard on Tuesday.
At about 4:05 p.m., the California Highway Patrol received a report that a vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes. The headon crash was reported a few minutes later.
At least one vehicle involved in the crash was reported to be on fire.
Authorities had the roadway closed for some time, but as of 4:50 p.m., both lanes of the highway were reopened.
According to the CHP, the people in the two cars suffered minor to moderate injuries.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash.
