The Central Coast is blessed with beautiful beaches, great entertainment and delicious food and drink.

All those wonderful things come together this weekend in Avila Beach to celebrate a great German tradition.

Saturday marks the inaugural Avila Beach Oktoberfest and organizers want everyone to hoist their steins and dress up in their Lederhosen’s.

For $25, you’ll enjoy all the bratwurst, sauerkraut and beer your heart desires.

A general admission ticket also includes a traditional beer stein so that attendees can drink in true German fashion.

If you’re confused about why this Oktoberfest is being held in September and not October, it’s because this German celebrations is keeping it über authentic.

The original Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany always begins on the third Saturday of September and wraps up the first Sunday of October.

San Luis Obispo’s only German restaurant, Beda’s Biergarten, is sponsoring the Avila Beach Oktoberfest.

Owner Beda Schmidthues hopes to give Oktoberfest attendees a true taste of the homeland.

"If you have been to the real Oktoberfest in Munich, you know you can’t copy it," Schmidthues said. "But here, we can try at least to be as authentic with having real tents, beer steins, having all the good things and good German beer and good German food."

This event is just for the adults.

It runs from 1:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday at the Avila Beach Golf Resort.
