The El Camino Homeless Organization hosted its Empty Bowls luncheon fundraiser today and had an even larger turn out than last year.

Lunch participants bought a $25 ticket and got the chance to be served by local celebrities including San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Ian Parkinson, Supervisor Debbie Arnold, Mayor Tom O’Malley and KSBY’s Megan Abundis and Kelsey McFarland.

Local chefs served many different types of soup in beautiful bowls that donors took home with them. These bowls were hand-crafted by local artists and students from Atascadero High School and Paso Robles High School.

Organizers say they were expecting a little more than 500 people compared to last year when they had approximately 350.
