Organizers of the Lompoc Valley Flower Festival are calling this year’s event a success.

The festival, now in its 66th year, kicked off Wednesday at Ryon Park with carnival rides, arts and crafts vendors, music, food booths and more.

A parade along portions of H Street and Ocean Avenue entertained many Saturday morning and the festival itself wrapped up Sunday night.

Entrance to the park, which at one time was free, was $5 this year for those 12 and older.

Organizers say the reason for the charge is due to increased costs from the City.

Despite that, they plan to hold the event again next year.
