Hwy 101 temporarily closed in Buellton area to remove wrecked trucks

UPDATE (10:35 a.m.) – Highway 101 was closed in both directions Wednesday morning just south of Buellton so crews could remove the wreckage of two semi trucks that were involved in a crash earlier in the day.The closure began shortly after 10 a.m. and was expected to last approximately two hours.Drivers are advised to utilize Highways 154 or 246 to get around the closure.According to the California Highway Patrol, one of the trucks crashed into the back of the other truck as it sat disabled in the slow lane following a collision with the guardrail.At approximately 5:30 a.m. Wednesday two semi-trucks were involved in an accident on northbound Highway 101 near Santa Rosa Road in Buellton. CHP says one is a semi-truck with tanker and the other is a semi-truck with a flatbed.According to CHP officers, one driver states the flatbed truck was stopped in the lane without any triangles put up.Santa Barbara County Fire officials say are no injuries reportedThe slow lane is closed to traffic as crews try to clean up the scene.The number one lane is open; however, traffic going through is slow. Officials say the closure will last for an unknown amount of time.This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is available.
