Santa Maria police are investigating a murder that happened overnight.
Police were called to the area of Sunrise Drive and Bradley Road just before 1 a.m. Saturday for a report of shots fired.
At the scene, officers located a man suffering from a possible gunshot wound and a stab wound, according to a press release issued Saturday morning.
Despite attempts by officers to revive the man, he died at the scene.
A murder investigation is currently underway. The victim’s name will not be released until next of kin is notified and police did not release any additional information about the man.
Just in the past week, Santa Maria police have been investigating a shooting, stabbing and two armed robberies.
There was no indication in the press release that these crimes are related to the murder.
