Possible missing surfer near Port San Luis

(UPDATE 2:28 p.m.)- The San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the area where the surfer was last seen and took a report.

They said no one was identified as missing, so they didn’t take an official missing person report.

KSBY has also made calls to CAL FIRE SLO and the Coast Guard.


Search and Rescue crews searched the water a for a possible missing surfer, according to CAL Fire SLO public information officer Chris Elms.

The life safety search began around 7:30 p.m. when a person was last seen surfing the area. It wrapped up two hours later, but no one was found.

Elms said the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office will transition to a recovering effort if it deems someone is actually missing.

It is unclear if it is a man or woman.
