Santa Barbara County Animal Services officials say the horse that was abandoned in Santa Maria in October is doing much better now.
The horse, named Sky, was dumped on Dominion Rd in Santa Maria injured and underweight. She was found on October 18.

Sky’s previous owner admitted to abandoning the horse and is being held responsible for the crime. However, law enforcement officers have not released details about the previous owner because the investigation is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, Sky has been recovering at the Ponzo Equine Center in Santa Ynez. Animal Services officials say Sky’s wound is almost healed and she is gaining weight back.

Sky is currently available for adoption. Animal Services officials say a potential adopter met Sky Monday. No word yet on whether that person decided to adopt Sky.
Santa Barbara County Animal Services is accepting donations online to support Sky’s care and the care of other animals.
