San Luis Obispo police are stepping up patrols through the end of the year to catch drunk drivers.
Officers say they see an uptick in fatal crashes during the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s as many people are celebrating the holidays with alcoholic drinks.
A DUI checkpoint will be set up in the city of San Luis Obispo Friday night. Officers will be looking for signs that drivers are impaired by alcohol or other drugs.
