The San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport is offering people an opportunity to expedite the security process while traveling by registering for T.S.A. pre-check.
The airport began registration for the pre-check program in January. Airport officials say the first registration was so popular that they are giving travelers another chance to register.
Starting Thursday, T.S.A. officials will be on hand at the airport to help people sign up for the expedited security screening process.
Those registered with T.S.A. pre-check are allowed to keep light jackets, shoes and belts on as they go through security. Also, you do not need to take laptops and liquids out of your bag for screening.
The pre-check registration program at the SLO Airport goes through March 1. The registration is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on weekends.
If you want to enroll, you’ll need to show a government-issued photo I.D. with proof of U.S. citizenship. For example, airport officials suggest bringing your passport or birth certificate. Names on the documents you show T.S.A. agents for pre-check registration must match exactly. You will also be asked to complete a 10-minute fingerprinting process.
