Posted

The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting a preliminary magnitude 4.9 earthquake in Southern California Friday morning.

The quake happened at 6:11 Friday morning near Ridgecrest, CA.

A week ago, Ridgecrest suffered two major earthquakes. The first, a 6.4 magnitude on the Fourth of July. Seismologists later called the 6.4 a foreshock to a magnitude 7.1 quake that occurred the following day, also in the Ridgecrest area.
