UPDATE (Tuesday, Feb. 17) - Caltrans reports that Highway 1 has partially reopened after crews cleared debris from the roadway Tuesday morning.
A 6.8-mile segment of the highway from one mile south of the Esalen Institute to two miles north of Lucia.
Caltrans says crews are still working to clear mud from the roadway at Regent's Slide, a portion of the highway that just reopened in mid-January after a long-term closure in which construction crews completely rebuilt a section of the roadway.

(Monday, Feb. 16, 2026) - Highway 1 is closed from the Ragged Point Inn in San Luis Obispo County to one mile south of Deetjen's Big Sur Inn in Monterey County due to rockslides and debris in the roadway at multiple locations.
There is no estimated time for reopening.
According to Caltrans, crews will respond at daylight.
