18 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Santa Barbara Co.; total now 192

Santa Barbara County is reporting 18 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to 192 as of Monday, April 6.

Of those patients, Health Officer Dr. Henning Ansorg says 34 are in the hospital, including 19 in the ICU.

Forty-two patients are fully recovered, while 110 are currently recovering at home.

Santa Barbara County has had two deaths.

The status of the remaining number of cases is pending.

County Health Department Director Dr. Van Do-Reynoso says 37 healthcare workers have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, and the county has identified an outbreak at the federal prison in Lompoc, where 28 people have tested positive.

County officials are continuing to encourage people to follow social distancing guidelines and only go out for the most essential activities.
