Seven residents and two staff members at Vineyard Hills Health Center in Templeton have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

The skilled nursing facility is operated by Compass Health.

The company says it tested all residents and staff at the facility last week after a hospitalized resident tested positive for the virus. The company says it is also operating an isolation wing for positive residents and is following a state-approved mitigation plan.

Compass Health says it will continue to test everyone weekly until no new cases are identified.

One of the residents who tested positive reportedly died on July 17 after being placed on hospice care. Compass Health says this person had a history of severe and chronic respiratory problems and had been in and out of the hospital multiple times.

In a press release, Compass Health says it believes it is "doubtful" that COVID-19 played a role in the resident's death.

This is at least the third instance of positive coronavirus cases at Vineyard Hills. In April, two employees were found to be positive and another employee case was reported in May.
