SLO Co. adds 162 new COVID-19 cases; deaths now at 67

San Luis Obispo County added 168 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the county's total to 9,471 confirmed cases as of Dec. 24.

Health officials say another person with COVID-19 also died, bringing the county’s total to 67 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

According to the Public Health Department, 55 people are hospitalized, up 11 from the day before, including eight patients who are in the ICU. Another 2,269 people are recovering at home and health officials say 7,063 people have recovered.

The location of 62 additional cases is under investigation, and another 12 are listed as "other," which includes communities with fewer than five cases. The Public Health Department is not identifying those locations.

Community COVID-19 testing sites are currently open to the public in Nipomo, Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles and Morro Bay.
