Authorities released more information on a crash that killed a man and injured a number of others late Wednesday night.
The crash involved two vehicles and happened at the Cholame "Y" intersection shortly after 10 p.m.
In a report released Thursday morning, California Highway Patrol stated passenger Juan Silva Casares, 48 of Creston, was killed. According to CHP's report, Casares was not wearing his seatbelt.
The narrative of the crash shows a Honda Odyssey was driving eastbound on Highway 46 while a Ford F-150 was westbound, both approaching the intersection. The Honda, driven by a Fresno man, turned left, but didn't see the pickup.
The driver of the Honda, identified as Zi Tao Pan, turned in front of the pickup. The Ford, driven by another Creston man, could not stop in time, colliding head-on.
Casares died from his injuries on scene. Five others suffered injuries ranging from minor to major.
CHP said up to eight were injured when the crash was first reported, but only five are identified in the report. No arrests were made.
