The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is investigating a loan company with a Santa Barbara address, Universal Capital Loan, for fraud.

Investigators say they received several complaints from customers who say the company asked them to apply for loans online and for their personal banking information. According to the Better Business Bureau, Universal Capital Loan hacked into and froze several people’s bank accounts.

The company claimed it was accredited by the Better Business Bureau but it was not.

Since the BBB learned about the company, they have contacted 800 customers for more information.

The Better Business Bureau says Universal Capital Loan does not operate in Santa Barbara and appears to be operating outside the United States.

BBB  warns customers to never give out personal or bank information if they are not absolutely sure who they are giving it to.
