UPDATE (11:50 a.m.) – CHP is releasing new details about a fatal crash on Highway 166, near Santa Maria.
Officers say John Ricker, of Arroyo Grande, was pulling into the intersection at Wineman road and Thompson Avenue when a motorcycle carrying two people slammed into him.
The driver and the passenger on the motorcycle were both ejected. The driver died on the scene. The passenger was taken to Marian Medical Center.
CHP has not released the names of the person killed or injured but said they are both from Santa Maria.
Crews are on scene of a fatal crash near Santa Maria, officials tweeted on Saturday.
The crash happened around 7:40 p.m. at Highway 166 and South Thompson Road.
CAL FIRE SLO tweeted the crash involved a motorcycle and pickup.
One person was killed, another person was critically injured.

Traffic along Highway 101 has not been impacted by the crash.
