California Department of Transportation officials are not closing Highway 1 at Mud Creek and Paul’s Slide in Monterey County Sunday night.
#Hwy1 #BigSur Update: slide areas looked good this morning, also rain forecast went down so there will be NO closure tonight. We'll continue to monitor & update, thanks for your cooperation. @bigsurkate @BigSurCC

Caltrans District 5 said as of Sunday morning, the area looked good and the forecast went down which is why they decided not to close the highway. They are continuing to monitor the area throughout the week to see if a closure is needed.
Caltrans originally said heavy rain could potentially close the highway that was damaged during a storm in January 2017.
