More than 600 students in Santa Barbara County are celebrating Catholic Schools Week.
St. Mary’s School in Santa Maria held a special mass Monday to commemorate the week honoring students at Catholic schools in northern Santa Barbara County.
The week is a way to bring the students together and celebrate their faith.
“I like that we’re being able to come to this church and celebrate with the other Catholics in our community,” said St. Joseph High School senior Courtney Kay Cowger. “I think it’s really good, like community-based, to bring us more closer together.”
Students from the elementary Catholic schools spent the rest of the day together, learning in classrooms and eating lunch.
