Cambria burglary suspect eludes deputies after chase

A burglary suspect evaded San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputies after a pursuit on Saturday night.

According to a press release, deputies responded to a call of a burglary in progress on the 2900 block of Burton Drive in Cambria.

The male suspect fled after being discovered by the homeowner in a 2005 silver Hyundai Veloster. An investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen out of Seattle.

Deputies located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, but the suspect didn’t stop and attempted to flee.

Authorities said the pursuit went northbound along Highway 1 near Ragged Point. Deputies terminated the chase after the suspect was “traveling at unsafe speeds.” Later deputies found the vehicle driving south on Highway 1 and deployed a spike stripe near Moonstone Beach Drive.

The suspect then fled the from the vehicle, the press release stated. The deputies search for the man but were unable to locate him.

He is described as an adult male, approximately 30 years old, 6’0″, thin build, with long brownish hair, wearing dark colored clothing.
