The San Luis Obispo Promenade shopping center in San Luis Obispo will be home to a handful of new stores in the coming months.

The City of San Luis Obispo says national outdoor retail co-op REI recently submitted tenant improvement plans for a spot next door to where Sprouts Farmers Market will be opening up next month in the former Forever 21 building off Madonna Road.

REI has not yet responded to KSBY’s request for comment on when the new store may open.

REI sells items such as backpacks, sleeping bags, hammocks, tents, and other items for cycling, paddling, yoga and more.

Work is wrapping up at the former Sears building where Michaels arts and crafts store and Ross will be moving in.

Michaels employees tell KSBY their move is expected to happen in late July. Ross employees say their move could happen by late June or early July.

Sprouts Farmers Market will be opening up on April 3.

The City says the former Staples building a few doors down from Sprouts will stay vacant for now as no plans have been submitted for work on that location.
