KSBY-TV is proud to announce Sports Director Chance Dickman was honored Tuesday with a prestigious 2019 Regional Edward R. Murrow award by the Radio Television Digital News Association.
He was recognized for his story entitled Scotty Prieto: No Fear of Failure which ran in June 2018.
The feature report tells the story of local teen Scotty Prieto who was diagnosed at age 3 with liver failure. After a search for a match garnered much local media attention, a Grover Beach woman stepped up to donate, saving Prieto’s life.
Now at 18, after a courageous battle, Prieto was preparing to head off to college to play baseball at Cal State San Marcos.
This region for an RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Award consists of stations in California, Hawaii and Nevada. Dickman’s story will now be entered to compete for a National Edward R. Murrow award. The winners will be announced in June. Congratulations Chance!
