Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo awards scholarships to 14 local students

Nearly $40,000 in scholarships has been gifted to 14 local students by the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo.

The rotary’s Challenge Scholarship Program offers scholarships for San Luis Obispo students who have faced significant personal hardships along their academic journey, and the rotary’s goal is to ease the financial challenges for these students, allowing them to continue to succeed in the classroom.

The scholarship program is funded by the Rotary Homes of Distinction Tour and the Rotary Spaghetti Western.

Scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $20,000 have been awarded to graduates from San Luis Obispo High School, Pacific Beach High School, and SLO County Independent Living Program.

Scholarship recipients include: Rachel Burns, Janae Caldera, Tiara Bais, Grace Bancroft, Azul Blazquez, Dexter Lai, Riley Miklik, Stephanie Banuelos, Tiana Dorsey, Jesse Pelz, Sophia Theis, J.T. Reynolds, Matt Hovanac, Avalon Hatcher, Titus Shanks, Joseph Randall Shanks, and Timothy Shanks.
