Central Coast hospice organization seeking volunteers

The Central Coast Home Health and Hospice organization is seeking hospice care volunteers to help support local patients and their families.

Organizers say volunteers will spend nearly three to four hours a week with patients to provide companionship and emotional support.

All ages of volunteers are welcome.

“Your presence is the most important thing, just being willing to go and sit with someone and just be present with them,” said Nicolette Tempesta, volunteer coordinator. “You don’t have to have any answers, you don’t have to know the right thing to say or make things better, you just need to present.”

In-house training is provided.

There are three training days coming up this month on June 14, 21, and 28.

Training takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Central Coast Home Health and Hospice San Luis Obispo office.

For additional details on how to volunteer, call (805) 540-6020.
