A couple from Santa Maria was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment Monday in Orcutt.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says someone who lives near the intersection of Kit Way and Glines Ave. in Orcutt reported a suspicious vehicle in the area.

After making contact with the two people inside the car, deputies took them into custody for a variety of charges, including being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and child endangerment. A six-month-old baby was reportedly located in the car.

Sheriff’s officials say Child Welfare Services took custody of the baby for a Drug Endangered Child investigation and follow-up medical care at the hospital.
